Saaskart Scoring Methodologies
Last updated: June 12, 2026
01Our scoring principles
Saaskart scores and rankings exist to give buyers an honest, data-driven view of the market. This page explains the signals we use and the principles that govern how products are evaluated and placed.
- Independence — rankings reflect data and merit, not commercial relationships.
- Authenticity — only verified, real contributions count.
- Transparency — we publish how scores are built so you know what they mean.
- Statistical integrity — we avoid drawing conclusions from too little data.
02How ratings are calculated
A product’s average rating is calculated solely from approved, verified reviews submitted by real users. Until a product has genuine reviews, its rating and review count remain at zero.
We never fabricate ratings
What feeds an average rating
- Overall star rating from each verified review.
- Optional sub-ratings (ease of use, support, features, value for money) where provided.
- Recency weighting, so a product’s current quality is reflected fairly.
03Review verification
Before a review affects a score, we work to confirm it is genuine.
- Reviewer identity and product-usage signals are validated.
- Reviews flagged as incentivized, conflicted, or fraudulent are excluded.
- Automated checks and human moderation work together to detect manipulation.
- Only reviews in good standing contribute to a product’s average rating.
04How category rankings work
Within a category, products are ordered using a blend of signals. No single factor determines placement, and the weighting is tuned to surface genuinely strong, relevant options for buyers.
- Review signal
- Volume, recency, and average rating of verified reviews.
- Profile completeness
- Accurate pricing, features, integrations, and compliance details.
- Buyer engagement
- How buyers interact with a listing — views, saves, comparisons.
- Relevance
- How well the product matches the category and a buyer's intent.
Products with too few reviews to be statistically meaningful are not eligible for top placements.
05Profile completeness
Listings with accurate, detailed information give buyers a clearer picture and rank more favorably. Completeness rewards transparency — not advertising spend. Vendors can improve their standing simply by keeping pricing, features, integrations, and compliance details current.
06Independence from commercial influence
Rankings cannot be purchased. Paid placements, when present, are always clearly labelled as such and are kept visually and functionally separate from organic scores.
- Editorial and scoring decisions are made independently of sales and commercial teams.
- A vendor’s subscription tier does not change its organic rating or rank.
- Negative reviews are never removed in exchange for payment.
07Badges and awards
Badges such as “Top Rated” or “Featured” are derived from the same verified signals described above, applied consistently across a category. Where a badge reflects a paid or promotional status, it is labelled accordingly so buyers can tell the difference at a glance.
08Accuracy and corrections
We continuously refine our methodology and data. If you believe a score, ranking, or badge is inaccurate, or you spot incorrect listing data, let us know and we will investigate. Methodology changes that materially affect scoring will be reflected in the “Last updated” date.
